Join Leslie at Pine Camp Ceramic Studio for a 4-hour intensive workshop on the wonderful technique Cuerda Seca. Cuerda Seca translates as “dry line or cord” and has been in use in a number of cultures, particularly Mediterranean and Middle East, for hundreds of years. Basically it is the process of using colored wax or oil (we will use black wax resist ) to make a design on a pot and then fill the areas in between the wax with glazes.

To register please call 804-646-3677 to register and pay for the workshop over the phone. The Cost for this workshop is $85.00 plus $15.00 for materials.

You will be provided with a bisque tile 6”x6” and tools and materials necessary to create your design on the tile. You will need to bring some drawings or at least have a design in mind for your tile. Please Google Cuerda Seca to get some ideas of what is possible with this technique. We will be using Cone 6 Amaco Satin and Celadon Glazes on a white stoneware clay body. At the end of the workshop you can pay $35.00 if you would like to take 5 small squeeze bottles with tips (filled with cone 6 glazes) home with you to continue using what you have learned. The bottle of black wax resist will be yours to keep whether you purchase the glazes or not.
